William Woody

William Woody began his career as a newspaper photojournalist in North Carolina in 1992. Since then Woody has worked for newspapers across the county from Wasilla Alaska to Asheville North Carolina honing his craft with picture making, video, sound and writing.

Woody first moved to the West Slope of Colorado in 1997, and has worked full-time on the West Slope since 2016 telling stories of life in Western Colorado for state, national and international publications. Woody's pictures first appeared in the Denver Post in 1999 and he has been a regular contributor over the years since.

Woody lives in Montrose with his wife, Jeana, and three children, Wilson, Stella and Milo. Woody loves everything about the Western Slope and has dedicated the remaining years of his career to document and celebrate life in Western Colorado. Woody is the curator of Picturing Western Slope, an online educational exhibit that documents life on the West Slope through pictures.
