Abdullah Elagha holds up peace signs in support of Palestinians in Gaza as protesters march down Colorado Boulevard in Denver, Colorado, on Saturday, June 1, 2024. Hundreds of protesters gathered at the Thatcher Memorial Fountain in City Park in support of Rafah, a southern city in the Gaza Strip that has seen deadly attacks this week by Israel ravage its tent cities. Led by the Colorado Palestine Coalition, made up of organizations such as Jewish Voice for Peace and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, among others, protesters marched through the streets near City Park for more than an hour, at one point causing police to shut down Colorado Boulevard between 17th Avenue and Colfax Avenue.
