The Broncos’ $4.65 billion sale price to the group headed by Rob Walton and Greg Penner, which was agreed upon late Tuesday night, is by far the highest in NFL history. The price is also a world record for a sports franchise. Last month, the Chelsea Football Club in England was sold for $3 billion in addition to a commitment of $2.16 billion in “further investments of the club,” such as stadium improvements and funding to the club’s youth academy and women’s team.
