UPDATED:

Police are searching for the driver involved in a Sunday hit-and-run crash that sent a pedestrian to the hospital.

Around 1:40 a.m. Sunday, a car traveling westbound down East Colfax Avenue — just west of North Ulster Street — collided with a pedestrian, according to the Denver Police Department.

“The driver fled the scene of this crash without stopping or providing information, as required by law,” police said in a statement on social media.

The pedestrian, who was crossing East Colfax Avenue at the time of the crash, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the hospital by paramedics, police said.

Investigators are searching for both the car — described by police as a gray, full-sized SUV similar to a Nissan Armada — and the driver. Police said the car may have minor damage to the front bumper and grill area.

Anyone with information about the car or driver is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.

This is a developing story and may be updated.
